Love is a Verb

Posted on 17 June 2007 by Radu

“Love people and love God!” This statement has its foundation in the great commandment and the great commission. In his sermon, “There Never Was Any Love That Could Be Paralleled with the Dying Love of Christ”, Jonathan Edwards said that love is fruitful – it involves doing.
When talking about loving people, we need to think about the verb “go” Jesus used in Matthew 28:19. Our love for God will always change the way we view others and it will translate into love for people. In other words, we need to communicate, to talk about the greatest event ever, which is the cross. God sent His one and only Son to save us from our sins. He did this because of His great love for us. (John 3:16)
