The Titanic exhibit came to town in June and just now my wife and I had the chance to go see it. It was awesome! After reading about several of the people that were on Titanic, seeing some of the artifacts and watching the IMAX movie “Ghosts of the Abyss’, I must admit it was fascinating.
While still in a meditative mode, I came to the conclusion that Titanic is a clear picture of human kind. Both were meant to achieve greatness and both failed. Unlike the Titanic, man has the chance to be saved… The Great Architect of man had in place a rescue plan. Jesus Christ came into the world, died, then went into the abyss of death and Hades and came up with the keys. He came up alive, victorious and with an irresistible offer… eternal life and a new opportunity for men to achieve greatness… through Him.
As we were meditating about the night when Titanic sank, we spent a little time talking about what the third class passengers must have felt that cold night, along with all the others left without a place on one of the life boats. They could touch death… None of them had to be asked, “What would you do if you died in the next 2 hours… or 30 minutes?” They knew death was imminent. Can you imagine the fear and chaos in these people’s hearts and minds? The week before we went to the exhibit I had the opportunity to read about Hell (it was Halloween week). The same week I watched a video “A Letter From Hell,” put together by Greg Stier and Dare2Share Ministries. You must see it!Conclusion: You really don’t want to experience Hell. Jesus is your life boat; don’t miss your opportunity!
