Dolly wrote it for the movie "Transamerica" and in the movie, it's sung by a transexual who is striving for acceptance. Of course, as a lot of songs, this one can be sung and spun however you wish (the song "You Raise Me Up" comes to mind. Jason seems to be an amazing guy and I'm sure the words meant something totally different to him than what is found in the context of the film.
