]]> The other day I received a book in the mail. It was “Stand Strong in College” by Alex McFarland. So, I decided to open and read it. Must say I was impressed. Few years back I had the chance to hear Alex M. live. He is a great speaker. You can learn more about him on his website www.alexmcfarland.com

Since I work with both high school and college age students, I am always looking for relevant materials. The transition from HS to college can be very hard. ]]> bruchko1This summer in July Redeemer Youth Group will go on a mission trip to Chiapas Mexico. Our church is supporting and working alongside Nathan and Julie Terrell who live in San Cristobal and who are missionaries to the Chol people. Before we go we decided to read a book about missions. The book we decided to read and talk about is Bruchko by Bruce Olson.  This book talks about what happens when a nineteen-year-old boy leaves home and heads into the jungles to evangelize a murderous tribe of South American Indians.

]]> What is the best gift we can give a student when he/she graduates from youth group/HS? Since statistics show that most  students leave church after they graduate High School I believe it is important that we give good and thoughtful gifts to our graduates that would help them in their decision making/struggles. One such good gift is a book by Lee Strobel, “The Case For Christ”

Few years ago, my pastor and his wife decided to purchase “The Case for a Creator” for each of the seniors form our youth group. I was somewhat skeptic that any of them would read it. To my amazement, I have heard some of them talk about reading the book and how good it was.

Lee Strobel is a great writer and he has solid arguments in his books. Personally I believe that each Christian should read “”The Case for Christ“, “The Case for Faith” and “The Case for a Creator“.

]]> This year I had the pleasure to see the ‘Skit Guys‘ live 2x. The first time I saw them perform was at the Group Conference for Youth Pastors/Leaders. The second time I saw them was at the Planet Wisdom Conference in Denver. Both times they were excellent.
Who Are They? Tommy Woodard and Eddie James are The Skit Guys. They have been best friends since high school, and have been communicating God’s Word and impacting lives through comedy, drama, and teaching for over 15 years.
