Jason Castro Brings A Praise and Worship Song To American Idol

Posted on 08 April 2008 by Radu

Jason Castro is a solid Christian. That is what some of my trustworthy sources are saying. After a little research I was pleased to find that Jason Castro sang a Praise & Worship song on American Idol.

Strictly speaking, this is not a praise and worship song. Dolly wrote it for the movie “Transamerica” and in the movie, it’s sung by a transexual who is striving for acceptance. Of course, as a lot of songs, this one can be sung and spun however you wish (the song “You Raise Me Up” comes to mind. Jason seems to be an amazing guy and I’m sure the words meant something totally different to him than what is found in the context of the film.

He is a dedicated Christian. If you go to YouTube and type in his name, you’ll find videos of him singing with the praise and worship team at his church in Texas. He covered “Clumsy” by Chris Rice and “I’m Not Who I Was” by Brandon Heath.

Correction- the song was not written by 'Dolly" but by Leonard Cohen in 1984, referencing the biblical encounter between David and Bathsheba.
